THE LAST NEWSPAPER / VIENNA / EXCURSION
PRINT / 2023
ABOUT THE PROJECT
"TOURISTS IN THE RAIN", the cooperative and cross-disciplinary excursion project at the Münster School of Design, explored an entire region. After New York, Jerusalem, Rome, Krakow, Avignon, Lisbon,  Moscow and two pandemic editions, the tourists went to Vienna. The interdisciplinary editorial project with students from the Illustration and Communication Design specializations is now available in newspaper form.  How do you capture a region like this? How do you reproduce its atmosphere and living environments on paper, supplemented by personal experiences and reflections? Once again, twelve students and two professors tackled this question. The project involves a week on location. History, culture and the search for inspiration, which is always paramount, determine the travel program. The students approach the historical substance and regional customs through the presentations prepared in advance. The variety of topics covered in the lectures once again demonstrates the many faces of a region, its history and its surroundings. The final goal is to incorporate the experiences, insights, inspirations and resulting works into a newspaper that is conceived, written, designed and produced after the trips at MSD. The Last Newspaper.
